The Genesis of SpeakToPreach
Our general format is largely borrowed from Toastmasters International. You can read all about Toastmasters at www.toastmasters.org.
Toastmasters provides a truly excellent forum and resource for those desiring to learn and practice their public speaking skills. In recognition of the fact that preaching involves public speaking, Speak to Preach borrows heavily from the Toastmasters format.
There are, however, some important differences.
- Less emphasis on protocol.
- More emphasis on content.
- Less emphasis on control.
We believe that the One in control should be the Holy Spirit. As long as this is the case, the meetings will be orderly and beneficial to all. This sentiment notwithstanding, we agree that structure is a good thing in any endeavor which seeks improvement and advancement. We provide the structure, God provides the control.
